Course Outline
Course Aim
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively use an automated external defibrillator (AED) on a casualty in cardiac arrest.
Course Objective
This training is suitable for individuals, companies and organizations, and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to use an AED.
Prerequisites
- Minimum age of 16 years is recommended.
Learning Outcomes
- Define the three cardiac arrhythmia's which precipitate cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate the preparation of a casualty for the application of an AED.
- Demonstrate the assembly, application and use of the AED on a casualty in cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate the management of a casualty after using the AED.
